Capital Allowances Buyer Beware!
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has
warned that some tax advisers have been advertising their services using the HMRC logo or suggesting that they are 'registered' or 'authorised' agents of HMRC. HMRC is concerned that this is misleading because it implies that those agents have been endorsed by HMRC. HMRC has confirmed that it does not approve, accredit or endorse anyone.
The Capital Allowances Partnership Ltd has previously warned businesses that some capital allowances advisers were marketing their services in this way. See our
Too Good to Be True article, and 'Honest Marketing' comments in the
Choosing an Adviser section of our website (which gives tips on selecting a capital allowances adviser).
If an adviser feels it has to describe itself like this to sell its services, this may well indicate an imprudent approach, and lack of experience and genuine credentials. It may, therefore, be advisable to exercise caution before appointing a firm which has chosen to market itself in this way.
