Our Publications

In addition to client work, we are authors of the following books:

Capital Allowances: Transactions and Planning 2009/10 by Martin Wilson and Steven Bone

The only capital allowances book written by full-time specialists with experience gained in both the tax and surveying professions, and with a transaction-driven approach. This is the book that other specialists rely on, but is equally accessible to non-specialists.

Adopting a commercially-based approach, and with an emphasis on corporate transactions, this work guides the reader through the practical realities of a claim, rather than just presenting the bare legislative facts.  It also includes guidance on R&D tax relief/credits.

Reviews of a previous edition:

"comprehensive and practical" John Jeffrey-Cook in Institute of Chartered Accountants Tax Faculty's 'TAXline' newsletter Nov 2007

"I recommend this book ... It is set out by transaction rather than tax relief so you can go directly to the chapter that deals with the transaction in front of you ... Overall the book is written with the busy practitioner in mind" Rebecca Cave in Taxation magazine Dec 2007

"With a transactions based structure, practical examples, checklists and other user-friendly features, this book sets out techniques for maximising tax reliefs on construction works and the purchase or sale of second-hand property" Chartered Institute of Taxation's 'Tax Adviser' magazine Dec 2007

"It tackles capital allowances in an original and enthusiastic way ... As well as looking at the nature of plant and the detail of each form of capital allowance this manual approaches things in a very different way to the norm; it looks at planning points and claims on a transactional basis ... This manual contains a myriad of practical detail and will easily earn back its cover price." Nichola Ross Martin on www.accountingweb.co.uk Feb 2008
